About us

Androneda consists of the following musicians:

Wouter Kuyper (accordion, bagpipe)

Wouter Kuyper

Wouter was introduced to folk music and balfolk dancing at the age of 10 at a festival in Gooik. At 11, he started playing the bagpipes, and at 15, he added the accordion. He formed his first band at 17. Wouter studied biogeology but now dedicates himself to music full-time. He teaches and performs solo and in various bands and ensembles; besides Androneda, he also performs in bands like Wouter en de Draak , BmB , and Goet ende Fyn .

Patricia Swart (saxophone)

Patricia Swart

Patricia is a passionate saxophonist who began her musical career at the age of seven on the recorder, which she soon replaced with a saxophone. Since then, she has played in many orchestras, including the North Holland Youth Fanfare Orchestra and the Twente Student Harmony Orchestra. When she discovered there was a higher education institution for music, her choice was made: she went to the conservatory. In 2012, she began studying at the ArtEZ Conservatory in Enschede with Johan van der Linden; in June 2016, she graduated from the ArtEZ Conservatory in Zwolle – with an exchange program in Zaragoza, Spain, with Mariano García in between. Now she is primarily focused on teaching and, alongside Androneda, plays in the Gelders Fanfare Orchestra and the ska band The Approachers. She is also trying to find her own style as a (balfolk) soloist.

Lenny de Rooy (bagpipes, vocals)

Lenny de Rooy

At a young age, Lenny saw other children playing the violin and decided she wanted to play it as well. At age 7, she received her first violin. Many years of classical violin lessons followed. She also sang in her high school show choir during her teenage years. After a brief foray into Irish fiddle music, she traded the violin for bagpipes in 2007. Her first music group was the duo Tweedledum & Tweedledee, with which she performed at medieval and fantasy festivals. Besides Androneda, she currently also plays in the medieval music group De Soete Inval .
